Infant Safe Sleep Coordinator


Responsible for developing effective, cross systems response promoting infant safe sleep practices in Erie County.  This position will work to enhance coordination among professionals delivering services to families, increase availability of training and resources and lead a public awareness campaign in Erie County on infant safe sleep practices.  This is a grant-funded position.


·  Complete Cribs 4 Kids Safe Sleep Ambassador training

·  Establish and maintain a Safe Sleep Community list serve sharing resources and information among partner organizations

·  Assist in forming and facilitating monthly meetings with Safe Sleep Advisory Committee

·  Engage local agencies and organizations, including pediatric and OBGYN practices, preventive service agencies and other health providers, in completing Safe Sleep Ambassador training

·  Facilitate and track the completion of Safe Sleep Ambassador training and use of Safe Sleep Toolkits among partner organizations

·  Organize and facilitate focus groups with Erie County parents and caregivers to identify trends and opportunities in promoting safe-sleep practices

·  Integrate lessons learned from child fatality review meetings when authoring and implementing prevention efforts

·  Provide quarterly progress reports on initiatives at Child Fatality Prevention Team meetings

·  Be available for tabling and training events in Erie County to promote Safe Sleep awareness (may include weekends or evening hours)

·  Lead a public awareness campaign aimed at increasing and streamlining safe sleep messaging within Erie County


·  Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

·  Must have experience with professional networking and participating in committees

·  Must be able to consider and integrate approaches that are inclusive of marginalized populations

·  Knowledge of current programs and resources available locally to parents and families is essential

·  Requires ability to effectively track and document activities to demonstrate project impact

·  Bilingual English/Spanish, Arabic, or other language preferred.


·  Masters degree in health related field 3 years of experience in health education, service coordination or other relevant experience.


·  A valid NYS drivers' license.

·  Automobile in good working order.

·  Must have Accredited NYS Defensive driving course; or obtain within 15 days of hire.

·  Must maintain Active NYS Defensive Driving class every 3 years, upon expiration.

·  If driving one's own vehicle, must maintain valid inspection and automobile insurance.

·  Must provide proof of insurance upon hire and when requested.
