Sports Coordinator

Job Title:  Sports Coordinator- Part-time

Reports To: Director of School-Based Services

FLSA Status: Non-exempt


·  Expand existing after-school sports programming to include developmentally appropriate sports sampling & inter-league  play specifically designed for underserved girls

·  Building Brighter Futures programming is based on the Social-Emotional Learning model and includes activities and supports designed to develop a strong SE skills in-teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, individual and shared goals, leadership, empowerment, time management and decision making.

·  Develop strong and positive relationships at all participating sites between teammates, coaches, fans, and competitors

·  Foster a lifelong interest in participants to staying active and making healthy choices

·   Part time is 20 hours a week Monday-Friday from 1-6pm or 12-5pm. Please note, schedule and assigned duties may vary and are subject to change based on the needs of the program


·  Recruit, enroll and maintain target enrollment numbers as outlined in the grant(s)

·  Design an inter-league sports program with and among designated school sites

·  Collect and maintain all required data to reach stated grant objectives and to remain in compliance with Federal, State, and evaluation mandates

·  Work and meet regularly with Program Facilitators to establish a sports schedule for their site, coordinate inter-league play during Saturday Academies.

·  Design a coaching, refereeing and positive youth development training programs for high school students

·  Recruit and identify coaches and assistant coaches for each participating site

·  Create and implement a training program for identified coaches

·  Manage and maintain a yearly budget

·  Develop the components and expectations of sport practices and league play

·  Incorporate social-emotional supports into practices and manage the DESSA reports

·  Participate in trainings provided by the Women's Sport Foundation


·  Widespread and strong knowledge of traditional and unique sports

·  Basic computer skills and programs

·  Budget management


·  Collaborating with Say Yes Community School Navigators to implement and facilitate inter-league play during Community Saturdays

·  Identify equipment and space needs and each site and plan to address any potential barriers


·  Bachelor's degree and/or Physical Education Teacher/coach (or on track to secure credentials)

·  Minimum of 2 years' experience working with school age children, preferably in an urban educational setting
