Senior Accountant

FLSA Status: Exempt

Starting Range: $58,500-$70,000 per year

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Supports all general ledger accounting functions of the agency: including management of grants and contracts, financial reporting, and budget monitoring.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains agency and foundation general ledgers, cash disbursements and receipts.
  • Responsible for monthly financial reporting.
  • Assists with expense/budget monitoring for multiple funding sources.
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports by funding sources (e.g. NYSOMH, ECDMH, NYSOASAS, ECDSS, HUD, etc.).
  • Assists with the preparation and completion of the annual audit and CFR.
  • Maintains all necessary internal control and other standard accounting practices.
  • Analyzes data on a monthly basis.
  • Completes all trainings required by the agency.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or financial management plus a minimum of two years experience in accounting.
  • Knowledge of and experience using computerized accounting and data management systems.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices
  • Knowledge of financial management and controls.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to operate efficiently and effectively in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders in the agency.
  • Excellent communication skills.
