SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
|
The RN Supervisor is responsible
for all professional nursing duties as required. S/he provides training and supervision to
other nursing staff, including licensed practical nurses and any on-call or
part-time registered nurses. S/he is responsible
for compliance to regulations, policies and procedures. S/he will ensure the continuity of care
within the maintenance medication programs. S/he will maintain clear
communication with pharmaceutical contacts to work toward improving
medication access. S/he will oversee
and/or coordinate insurance communications to obtain prior authorizations and
any other communication as necessary. S/he must be willing to allocate time
to multiple clinics.
REPORTING
RELATIONSHIPS:
The RN Supervisor receives clinical
and administrative supervision from the Program Director.
S/he provides supervision to all
other Nurses.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Completes health
histories and nursing assessments for each client.
- Coordinates linkage
for medical services as needed.
- Observes urine sample
collection.
- Offers group sessions
on maintenance medication.
- Provides consultation
about HIV/hepatitis screening.
- Provides training on
medical issues to clinical staff.
- Dispenses IM
injections.
- Supervises all other
CD nursing staff within the agency.
- Audits client charts
regularly to ensure compliance to protocols.
- Obtains prior
authorizations from insurances as needed.
- Seeks and/or provides
coverage when other CD nurses are off.
- Maintain communication
with pharmaceutical companies regularly.
- Communication with
venders to ensure receiving best possible outcomes.
- Schedule and assigned
duties are subject to change based on the needs of the program and the
clients we serve.

REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
- Must have strong
knowledge of nursing functions, including mental health medications as well
as maintenance medications.
- Must be knowledgeable
on protocols for maintenance medications.
- Must be knowledgeable
about communicable disease transmission.
- Must have strong
interpersonal skills and be able to relate to clients and staff both
individually and in group settings.
- Ability to speak
Spanish desirable.
- May be required to
participate as member of on-call team.
- Supervisory experience
desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS:
|
- Graduated from an
accredited school of professional nursing, a bachelor's degree preferred,
plus a license to practice as a registered professional nurse in New York
State or possession of a temporary permit.
- Four years of
experience, at least three of which must have been in mental health,
substance abuse treatment, or perinatal health care setting.
AND
- A
valid NYS drivers' license.
- Automobile
in good working order.
- Must
have Accredited NYS Defensive driving course; or obtain within 15 days
of hire.
- Must
maintain Active NYS Defensive Driving class every 3 years, upon
expiration.
- If
driving one's own vehicle, must maintain valid inspection and automobile
insurance.
- Must
provide proof of insurance upon hire and when requested.
