Director of Financial Analysis, Planning, and Grants


FLSA Status: Exempt

Starting Range: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Director of Financial Analysis, Planning, and Grants is responsible for overseeing all aspects of grant financial management, reporting, and financial planning & analysis. This role ensures compliance with grant funding requirements, manages the financial performance of grant-funded programs, and provides strategic insights to drive financial decision-making. The Director will work closely with program directors, finance leadership and team, the grant department and external funding agencies to ensure accurate financial and compliance reporting. This position also leads the accounting team members with grant responsibilities and contributes to the organization's long-term financial strategy.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

· This position is responsible for the oversight of the grant accounting team members. Supervisory responsibilities of these direct reports include consistent coaching, feedback, & development, review & approval of timecards, and completing performance reviews & development plans.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

· Facilitate the preparation of all monthly, quarterly, and annual grant financial reports as required by funding sources (e.g., OMH, ECDMH, OASAS, SAMHSA, HUD, NYSED, etc.).

· Facilitate and manage the preparation of all invoices, vouchers, and compliance reports for grant and contract funding sources.

· Ensure appropriate revenue recognition for grant-funded programs on a monthly and quarterly basis.

· Reconcile grant receivables monthly and follow up with funding sources regarding reimbursements.

· Create and update grant-related accounting policies and procedures to maximize efficiencies and controls.

· Assist in the preparation and completion of the annual Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR) and the Federal Single Audit (A-133)

· Serve as the financial liaison for agreement reviews, negotiations, and processing with sponsoring agencies and collaborating institutions.

· Manage and oversee accounting team members with grant responsibilities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

· Lead the annual grant budget development process and monitor budget progress in collaboration with the Controller and CFO.

· Conduct financial planning and analysis to assess the financial health of grant-funded programs.

· Provide strategic insights by analyzing financial data, trends, and forecasts.

· Support internal and external collaborations (e.g., meetings with program officers, senior leadership, and community organizations) to secure funding for maintaining and expanding services.

· Manage ad hoc accounting-related data analysis as requested.

· Coordinate with grants team and technology teams to improve grant management systems and workflows.

· Maintain a calendar of applications, reporting requirements, and key deadlines to ensure timely completion and submission of reports.

· Respond to internal grant report requests and collaborate closely with the Grants team.

· Completes all trainings required by the agency.

· Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA, CMA, or Master's degree preferred.

· Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in grant accounting, financial planning & analysis, or nonprofit financial management.

· Strong understanding of government and foundation grant regulations and financial compliance.

· Proficiency in financial reporting, forecasting, and budget development.

· Experience with grant management systems, accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite), and database management.

· Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

· Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external funding agencies.
