Counselor of Child and Family Trauma Treatment

FLSA Status: Exempt

Starting range: $43,500.00 - $66,242.27 per year

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide assessment, treatment planning, crisis and on-going therapeutic treatment interventions for the clients who have experience trauma.
  • Develop initial and on-going treatment plans which describe the goals of treatment and the methods to be used.
  • Conduct  risk assessment and formulate safety plans
  • Provide appropriate treatment response to clients and their families, including implementation of evidence-based treatment models.
  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling and psychotherapy to assist clients in achieving the goals of treatment.
  • Provide crisis assessments by referral of members of the CAC Multi-Disciplinary Team.
  • Assist clients with linkages to appropriate community resources to enhance treatment and recovery.
  • Communicate with others in client services system to coordinate care, including, but not be limited to, primary care physicians, members of the multi-disciplinary team, insurance companies and service providers involved in the care of clients.
  • Schedule and assigned duties are subject to change based on the needs of the program and the clients we serve.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, EMDR and/or Seeking Safety preferred
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills
  • Must possess computer skills adequate to maintain the electronic record. 
  • Must appreciate cultural diversity and be aware of cross cultural counseling issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possesses a Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or Rehabilitation Counseling plus at least one-year of professional work experience in a clinical mental health setting.
  • Professional certification; LMSW, MHC-P, CASAC, LMFT

AND

  • A valid NYS drivers' license.
  • Automobile in good working order.
  • Must have Accredited NYS Defensive driving course; or obtain within 15 days of hire.
  • Must maintain Active NYS Defensive Driving class every 3 years, upon expiration.
  • If driving one's own vehicle, must maintain valid inspection and automobile insurance.
  • Must provide proof of insurance upon hire and when requested.
