Admission Counselor of RASI

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Admission Counselor is responsible for conducting all admission assessments and maintaining utilization. The Admission Counselor will do this by managing referral calls and scheduling assessments, determining patient eligibility for treatment, and organizing admissions. It requires conducting follow-ups with referral sources and families, making referrals for non-eligible individuals, and orienting new patients to the treatment program. Responsibilities also include completing documentation, maintaining referral statistics, providing direct care services, and maintaining contact with other referral programs. Building strong partnerships, participating in meetings, and assisting in patient transportation are also key components of the role.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives all referral calls and schedules admission assessments when appropriate.
  • Conducts all admission assessments and determines patient appropriateness for treatment, in collaboration with Medical Director and Director of Residential Treatment, when necessary.
  • Keeps organized and tracks progress on all possible admissions.
  • Conducts all necessary follow up with referral sources and families.
  • Make the necessary referrals for those individuals who are not eligible or interested in the program.
  • Orients all new patients to the treatment program, including assigning primary counselors, and buddies.
  • Completes all pre-admission and admission required documentation.
  • Maintains all referral statistics and presents them to the Director of Residential Treatment on a bi-monthly basis or as requested.
  • Provides direct care services, group and individual treatment services, as necessary to support resident care.
  • Maintains contacts with other referral programs, including but not limited to, regular phone calls and meetings, outreach, and informing of bed availability.
  • Builds strong partnerships with referral sources and assists with expediting referrals and removing barriers to care.
  • Participates in staff meetings, case conferences, and in-service training.
  • Assists in patient transportation as assigned.
  • Completes all trainings required by the agency.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualified Health Professional required - LMSW, LMFT, CASAC, LMHC, or LCSW.
  • Preferred experience in substance use disorder field and/or experience working with adolescents, transitional aged youth, and families.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Minimum proficiency with Windows based software applications is required.
  • Must have experience with Electronic Medical Records databases and basic computer skills.
  • Must appreciate cultural diversity and be aware of cross cultural counseling issues.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License.
  • Must have accredited NYS Defensive Driving course; or obtain within 15 days of hire and send certification of completion to Human Resources.
  • Must maintain active NYS Defensive Driving course every 3 years and send a copy of the new certification of completion upon expiration.

Must maintain valid vehicle inspection, registration, and insurance cards and send updated copies to Human Resources upon expiration

Salary Range

  • Determined based on education, level of licensure/certification, and experience.
  • Increases given when new licensure obtained.

Unlicensed Counselors:

  • 35 hours per week: $43,500-$51,986.53 per year full time or $23.91-$28.57 per hour part time
  • 37.5 hours per week: $46,607.14-$55,699.85 per year full time or $23.91-$28.57 per hour part time
  • 40 hours per week: $49,714.28-$59,413.17 per year full time or $23.91-$28.57 per hour part time

Licensed Counselors:

  • 35 hours per week: $45,500-$57,961.99 per year full time or $25-$31.85 per hour part time
  • 37.5 hours per week: $48,750-$62,102.13 per year full time or $25-$31.85 per hour part time
  • 40 hours per week: $52,000-$66,242.27 per year full time or $25-$31.85 per hour part time
