Senior Residential Support Specialist

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, 40 Hours Full Time Status

Pay rate: Starting rate of $19.50 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Functions as Resident Support Specialist (RSS) team leader. Works with Clinical Team to ensure proper Management of the facility. Supports RSS staff in the maintenance of a stable and therapeutic environment and may assist in their supervision. Under direction of program supervisory staff, schedules Resident Support Specialists and on-call staff. Participates in household management tasks such as preparation of meals or housekeeping and other program related activities as needed.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains updated list of resident's external appointments and schedules vehicles and staff.
  • Drives clients to appointments when other staff in unavailable.
  • Works with counseling staff to resolve conflicts in transportation schedule.
  • Utilizes interactions in the work environment to provide leadership and support to RSS staff.
  • Provides medication monitoring.
  • Interacts with clients in supportive manner and models appropriate behavior.
  • Monitors client interaction with children.
  • With supervisory input, develops monthly RSS schedule. Arranges for on-call staff as directed.
  • Schedule and assigned duties are subject to change based on the needs of the program and the clients we serve.
  • Ability to maintain flexible work schedule, especially nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Completes necessary documentation accordingly.
  • Completes all trainings required by the agency.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree or equivalent in human service field and one year in a human service agency, or High school diploma or equivalency and two years full time paid experience in a human service agency or health care facility.
  • Excellent communication skills using all methods.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and leadership abilities.
  • Must have strong, positive social interaction skills, knowledge of good parenting and the ability to interact effectively with recovering women and their children.
  • Basic knowledge of addictions and recovery required
  • Ability to identify potential crisis situations, convey this information to supervisor in a timely and appropriate manner, and follow through with directions.
  • Ability to maintain BestSelf HIPPAA confidentiality guidelines.
  • Ability to utilize the computer for email, training and BestSelf Systems.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds when handling materials and related tasks.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • A valid NYS drivers' license
  • Must have Accredited NYS Defensive driving course; or obtain within 15 days of hire.
  • Must maintain Active NYS Defensive Driving class every 3 years, upon expiration.
