Seasonal Landscape Specialist

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Starting Rate: $17 per hour

Part-Time Seasonal Landscape Specialist from May to November.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Landscape Specialist role entails performing landscape maintenance tasks across all agency sites. Duties include trimming trees, maintaining gardens, and ensuring all outdoor spaces are clean and inviting. Utilization of hand tools and power equipment and adherence to safety protocols are integral aspects of the role.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform landscape maintenance tasks at all agency sites.
  • Trim trees and shrubs to maintain their shape and health.
  • Use hand tools and power equipment to complete assigned tasks.
  • Maintain gardens and flower beds by weeding, mulching, and watering.
  • Maintain grass mowing and edging at frequency set by agency and regulatory standards.
  • Uphold an inviting outdoor image of agency buildings by disposing of debris and cleaning up after any performed landscaping tasks.
  • Power wash and/or clean exterior of buildings/windows/fences.
  • Assist with special landscape related construction/maintenance projects as needed.
  • Follows safety protocol for all tasks and equipment operations.
  • Completes all trainings required by the agency.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, power tools, leaf blowers, etc.
  • Knowledge of safe operation of landscaping and power tool equipment.
  • Ability to perform manual labor during completion of tasks.
  • Attention to detail for precise landscaping work.
  • Work effectively both independently and as a member of team under absence of direct supervision.
  • Efficient & effective time management skills.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Interact in a professional and respectful manner with all stakeholders of the agency.
  • Ability to travel to all agency locations.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License.
  • Must have accredited NYS Defensive Driving course; or obtain within 15 days of hire and send certification of completion to Human Resources.
  • Must maintain active NYS Defensive Driving course every 3 years and send a copy of the new certification of completion upon expiration.
  • Must maintain valid vehicle inspection, registration, and insurance cards and send updated copies to Human Resources upon expiration.
