ACT IPS Employment Specialist (Chautauqua County)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Starting Range: $23.91-$28.57 35 Hours Full Time

Location: 90 E 4th St, Dunkirk, NY 14048

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The IPS Employment Specialist develops competitive job opportunities in the community for individuals with mental illness. These jobs will be permanent in nature, competitive and pay at least minimum wage. They will be jobs that are available for anyone and not set aside for individuals with a disability. They will facilitate the successful utilization of job readiness training and job retention services for consumers of Vocational, ACT, and PROS Programs and build new relationships with potential employers in the community.

Our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams offer fully mobile community-based mental health services, with a focus on intensive care, crisis support, and outreach, using a multi-disciplinary approach.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists consumers in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment
  • Engages with community employers
  • Provides unlimited support/coaching to consumers to assist them in achieving the outcome of employment success
  • Assist consumers with resume writing, interview skills and job searching
  • May transport consumers to and from interviews
  • Assist/Job Coach consumers onsite at their place of employment
  • Provides benefits counseling
  • Provides consumers with accurate information regarding disclosure to employers
  • Completes vocational assessment and updates consumer profile on a regular basis.
  • Completes weekly and monthly performance indicators and records data
  • Provides unlimited support for follow along employment services
  • Acts as a liaison between employer and consumer as needed
  • Reports data to NYESS or to agency designee for reporting purposes
  • Schedule and assigned duties are subject to change based on the needs of the program and the clients we serve.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Requires basic knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation, vocational development, assessment, and placement techniques.
  • Must have excellent communication, presentation and networking skills as well as computer skills.
  • Must be goal directed, organized and able to work independently.
  • Must have a working familiarity with community resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant educational, business, communication, vocational or human services and one-year experience.

OR

Associate Degree with relevant educational, business, communication, vocational or human services and two years' experience.

AND

  • A valid NYS drivers' license.
  • Automobile in good working order.
  • Must have Accredited NYS Defensive driving course; or obtain within 15 days of hire.
  • Must maintain Active NYS Defensive Driving class every 3 years, upon expiration.
  • If driving one's own vehicle, must maintain valid inspection and automobile insurance.
  • Must provide proof of insurance upon hire and when requested.
