Job Title: 21st Century Partnership Social Emotional Coordinator

Reports To: BBF Director

Location: Matt Urban 21st Century Partnership Schools

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


The Social-Emotional Coordinator (SEC) provides 21st Century Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) supports to students within grades K-8 with the grade levels varying per site.  The SEC is responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate social emotional interventions and supports that align with the Matt Urban 21st Century Community Learning Center program.  The SEC facilitates social emotional supports for the designated  21st Century target population during the expanded learning time and designated times throughout the school day 


  • Provide and monitor programming designed to increase the academic and social emotional development of participants which align with the Matt Urban 21st CCLC  program, School District and Grant specific goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate as a BestSelf employee the agency core values.
  • Plan and deliver evidenced based curriculums such as but not limited to Second Step, CBITS, Positive Youth Development, MindUp and Restorative Practices. 
  • Meet regularly with the Matt Urban Site Facilitator and maintain program objectives through maintenance of appropriate program data and reports.
  • Participate in both Matt Urban provided and BestSelf professional development.
  • Meet regularly with day Matt Urban Site Facilitator, school staff, BestSelf Program Director, the Building Brighter Futures (BBF) team and Matt Urban after-school staff.
  • Work collaboratively with school day staff to address academic and social-emotional needs of targeted students.
  • Plan collaboratively with the Matt Urban Site Facilitator, deliver and track services and communications with parents/guardians and provide linkages to additional resources as needed.
  • Comply with all agency, school/site and Matt Urban program policies and procedures.
  • Meet all Matt Urban administrative requirements to ensure compliance with state regulations and evaluation requirements (OCFS, NY State Department of Education and Via Evaluation).


  • Microsoft Word, Power Point & Excel 


  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology OR Mental Health/ School Counseling.  Master's level preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with school age children, preferably in an urban educational setting.
